Wanted Gal is a bluegrass band fronted by Donna Kirby on banjo and vocals, bringing traditional bluegrass together with smart, funny storytelling. Their live shows bring an unexpected level of entertainment that is grounded in irreverent humor and excellent musicianship.

Wanted Gal’s debut album, Alcohol and Wild Women, showcases the band’s traditional bluegrass foundation alongside Donna’s original songwriting and storytelling.

About Donna Kirby

I was raised in the Bootheel of Southern Missouri with the sounds of Southern Gospel, Classic Country, and a little Rock and Roll. The music of the rural Baptist churches I attended when growing up came alive with the sound of gospel harmony. I was struck by the emotion the music was able to evoke—a feeling that has stayed with me my whole life.

When I first heard Bluegrass music, I deeply connected with it. It embodied all of the musical sounds and culture from my childhood. I was hooked on traditional Bluegrass, and especially the sound of the BANJO.

I love playing both Scruggs and Clawhammer style banjo. I love Bluegrass music so much, and I'm excited to share it with you through Wanted Gal.
